Garment Guidelines
So you want your jumper upcycled? Let's see if it fits the criteria!
What We Can Felt
- Most Woollen Knitwear: Garments made from natural fibres always felt better than synthetic ones, which is one of the reasons we exclusively sell real wool knitwear.
- Thickly Knitted Garments: The texture of cable knits and chunky knits can add a textile quality to the design.
- Open Knit or Crochet: Depending on the tension, designs for these may need adjusting.
- Stiff, Woven Fabrics: Denim, linen, and some cottons, by request only.
What We Can’t Felt
- Most Sewn Garments: Sweaters, hoodies, or jumpers that have been sewn rather than knitted.
- High Elasticity Knitwear: Garments with significant stretch.
- Some Synthetic Knits: Depending on the specific garment, knitwear made from polyamide, nylon, raylon, or acrylic may not be feltable.
Synthetic or Wool?
We exclusively sell natural fibre garments, but we do upcycle synthetic knits. Needle felting can be done on synthetic garments, but designs tend to last longer on natural fibres.
Our goal is to prevent garments from heading to landfill. If we can give them a new life, we say absolutely!
Note: Synthetic garments must still be washed delicately to avoid shrinking the design.
